Safety and Hazardous Waste

Kaman takes every precaution to prevent workplace incidents and promote a safe work environment.

Education on safety matters is important to Kaman. All employees are trained on safety procedures, and attend annual re-training as applicable. We perform monthly safety campaigns at various facilities and provide routine safety tips to promote a safe work environment. Our Safety Policy Guide can be found here.

Incident Reporting

We prioritize the well-being of our personnel. Kaman employees are required to report any and all injuries and incidents immediately with no retaliation. These incidents are communicated formally with senior leadership on a regular basis to ensure transparency and improvement of such incidents.

Employee Protective Measures

Kaman provides personal protective equipment and other safety equipment to our employees. By making these resources available, we are able to achieve company goals in the safest manner possible. Such safety measures include:

  • Safety glasses
  • Steel-toed shoes (stipends provided)
  • Protective railings for scaffolding
  • Machinery maintenance padlocks

Hazardous Waste

Kaman strives to minimize the generation of hazardous waste and exposure to hazardous materials. Kaman employees, where applicable, participate in Hazardous Waste Management training, and the company provides reporting as required by EPA requirement to assess waste generation.


Kaman strives for sustainable use of natural resources through facility modernization and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.

Water and Energy Consumption

The company monitors water and energy usage on a monthly basis at all domestic locations. To preserve electrical energy consumption, all domestic Kaman facilities have participated in an initiative to transition from high energy lighting (e.g. incandescent, HID) to more efficient LED lighting.

Special Permits and Processes

Kaman Air Vehicles and Kamatics in Bloomfield, CT maintain a wastewater treatment center and associated permits.

Kaman takes external threats seriously. No matter the natural disaster or unforeseen circumstance, Kaman is there to help keep our people and community safe.

COVID-19 Response

During the COVID-19 outbreak, Kaman has provided support to many in our community. Our Precision Products facility in Orlando, FL, provided over 13,000 3D printed face shields and donated food to front-line workers across the country. Our VT  Composites facility donated 480 new N95 masks to their local hospitals and several of our business units provides donations and food to organizations that assist those that have been impacted by the virus.
