Kaman Measuring Highlighted digiVIT and Digital DIT at Sensors Expo and Conference 2018
Inductive eddy current technology featured in booth #1217
Middletown, CT – The Measuring Division of Kaman Precision Products, Inc., a world leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance, precision non-contact position measuring systems, recently highlighted its complete range of inductive eddy current technology at Sensors Expo and Conference, held from June 26-28, 2018 at the McEnery Convention Center, in San Jose, CA, Booth #1217. Demonstrations of the digiVIT Digital Variable Impedance Transducer and new Digital Differential Impedance Transducer (Digital DIT) took place at the booth.
The digiVIT features a self-tuning bridge that can work with nearly any sensor and any conductive target. The transducer also features simple pushbutton calibration, temperature compensation, and zeroing. Its embedded intelligence ensures that all functions are accessible, with no need to connect to a PC to download a configuration file when changing sensors or performing high level calibrations.
Kaman’s Digital DIT is designed to provide a digital interface for high speed eddy current measurement systems, with resolution in the micro-inch range, at bandwidths as high as 60 kHz. Kaman’s custom sensors, signal processing, analog to digital converter, and custom calibration system are used to deliver each high precision Digital DIT sensor system. Available in different configurations to tailor the measurement system to the application, each system is calibrated to the application to provide optimum performance and system validation.
The Digital DIT provides a standard serial peripheral interface (SPI) or direct access for high speed communication performance. Using a digital interface like the Digital DIT provides advantages in measurement system integrity over analog systems. For applications that require a digital output, using the SPI bus provides a standardized method to communicate with most embedded controllers, and it can be multiplexed with other devices.
Kaman also exhibited numerous sensors based on our core technology. On display were a variety of general purpose sensors like the KD-2446, KD-2306, and KDM-8206, as well as high-performance sensors better suited for particular applications, such as the SMT-9700, a high resolution OEM analog unit available in 1, 2, or 3 channel configurations. Also displayed were Extreme Environment sensors for high pressure, low temperature, and high temperature applications.
